Stand Out Northamptonshire (SON) is an independent Northamptonshire based registered charity. The charity has been specifically set up to improve the social, health and economic outcomes of local children in care and care leavers.

 

With care leavers on our Board of Trustees and within our Volunteer Team we’re strategically positioned to make the biggest and best positive impact for increasing numbers of significantly disadvantaged children and young people.

Professor Adrian Pryce DL (Chair)

Adrian Pryce DL is an Associate Professor in Strategy & International Business at the University of Northampton, where his research interests are in corporate citizenship and inclusive capitalism. He is also a founder member and Chair of The Crysalys Foundation and has served as Chair of Scott Bader Commonwealth Limited and Chair of Northampton Hope Centre homelessness for six years. He is also currently the chair of Screen Northants, a not for profit film making company with a social mission to promote opportunity and employability for young people in the film industry. In 2017 Adrian was made a Deputy-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire for his work with business, charity and the community, and he serves the Lord-Lieutenant on his Commerce and Community sub-committees.

 

Joe Plumb (Deputy Chair)

Joe is a local care leaver who is aspiring to have a career in Northamptonshire Police. Joe has been proactive in Northamptonshire’s care forums for several years and has helped to establish SON. He has an extensive network of beneficiary peers and is passionate about sharing his message to support other young people.

 

Graham Goss (Treasurer)

Graham Goss is a qualified Chartered Accountant who is a founder and still active member of Northampton Becket Rotary Club, also a Trustee of Skylark Partnership, which operates Northamptonshire’s Hospital Outreach School seeing it through to academy status. He is a founder member and trustee of The Crysalys Foundation.

 

Leonie-Jane Walker

Leonie-Jane is a Crime and Prosecutions Manager and has worked for Northamptonshire Police for 14 years.

 

David Apparicio

David is the founder and CEO of The Chrysalis Foundation and an appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s New Year Honours list 2019 for services to reducing reoffending.

Also, a Justice of the Peace (JP) Northampton bench from 2004, a Presiding Justice since 2013, and a Fellow of The RSA (FRSA) (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce).

Originally a Royal Mail Engineer and Lecturer in Engineering at Royal Mail’s Engineering College for 10 years, David is an experienced learning, development and HR professional with over 20 years of strategic experience.

 

Claudia Hardy

Claudia has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has 20 years’ experience in working in the Social Care and Mental Health sector with a particular focus on children and young people.

Claudia was raised in East Germany during the communist regime, which has influenced her professional career pathway. She moved to the UK in 2005 and has since been actively involved in improving mental health support services for children and young people in Northamptonshire.

Claudia is the CEO of Service Six and also a Trustee at the Faraway Children’s Charity.

Jane Toman

Jane has an excellent track record of leadership within high quality public services, as the Chief Executive of Blaby District Council (2016-2021) and previously in Northampton Borough Council (1986 to 1998). Jane is passionate about doing the right thing and effective partnership working. Jane gained Board experience as a trustee for a Multi Academy Trust within Leicestershire and, for many years, was one of two Independent Person representatives on the Northamptonshire Police Misconduct Panel.

Jane has recently retired and has joined the SON Board in 2023 to utilise her skills and experience in a field where she feels she would add most value and where her passions lie.  

 

Volunteer Team

We have a team of micro-volunteers who are supported by Mrs Jeanette Walsh. Jeanette grew up in care and went onto become a Northamptonshire Social Worker. Now retired, Jeanette is affectionately known in the county as, ‘Mother Christmas’ and 'Easter Bunny', for her role as a volunteer for Northamptonshire County Council collecting and distribution presents, food, eggs and resources for children in need, children in care and care leavers. Jeanette is also a trustee of The Faraway Children’s Charity.

 

Development Manager

Mrs Jane Deamer has over thirty years’ experience in successfully innovating and funding the third sector in the Midlands region. Jane was commissioned by Northamptonshire County Council in 2017 to help translate the initial vision, strategy and action plan for SON. In 2020 the SON Board hired Jane on a self-employed part-time basis to oversee the transition to an independent registered charity and implement needs led strategic development.
