Who We Are
Stand Out Northamptonshire (SON) is a new independent Northamptonshire based registered charity. The charity is one of only two of its kind in England & Wales, specifically set up to improve the social, health and economic outcomes of local children in care and care leavers.
With care leavers on our Board of Trustees and within our Volunteer Team we’re strategically positioned to make the biggest and best positive impact for increasing numbers of significantly disadvantaged children and young people.
SON has a Board of trustees including:
Professor Adrian Pryce DL (Chair)

He is also currently the chair of Screen Northants, a not for profit film making company with a social mission to promote opportunity and employability for young people in the film industry. Mr Joe Plumb (Deputy Chair)

We have a team of regular and ad hoc volunteers who are led by Mrs Jeanette Walsh. Jeanette grew up in care and went onto become a Northamptonshire Social Worker. Now retired, Jeanette is affectionately known in the county as, ‘Mother Christmas,’ for her role as a volunteer for Northamptonshire County Council collecting and distribution presents, food and resources for children in need, children in care and care leavers. Jeanette is also a trustee of The Faraway Children’s Charity.
Mrs Jane Deamer has over thirty years’ experience in successfully innovating and funding the third sector in the Midlands region. Jane was commissioned by Northamptonshire County Council in 2017 to help translate the initial vision, strategy and action plan for SON. In 2020 the SON Board hired Jane on a part-time basis for 2020-21 to oversee the transition to an independent registered charity and implement needs led strategic development.
